Tie-back is a geoengineering technique used to hold and stabilize soil or rock. It is usually applied to soil or rock slopes which has a large depth, unstable or easy to slip, in order to prevent landslides, collapses or breaches.


Specifically. the tie-back works by drilling a hole into the slope, then burying a material such as steel bar or cable into the hole and pouring high-strength cement slurry or concrete to form an "anchor solid" that connects it to the slope portion. This can effectively increase the stability and bearing capacity of the slope to avoid deformation and collapse.


In additiom to preventing slope landslides and collapses, tie-back technology can also be applied to other geoengineering fields, such as underground tunnel and subway construction, settlement control, and bridge support.
